Blue Hills District
District Dinner
The Blue Hills Annual District Dinner will be held on Thursday, May 8th at Turtleback Conference Center in Rice Lake beginning at 5:30 p.m. This event serves as a night to celebrate Scouting in the Blue Hills and to thank ALL of our volunteers who put in countless hours to support their Packs, Troops, and Crews. We will be awarding the District’s annual traveling awards to units and presenting several volunteers with the prestigious District Award of Merit. Spring Camporee
The Blue Hills Spring Camporee will be happening May 16-17-18. All Troops and Webelos dens are invited to spend the weekend at Scoutland in Cumberland participating in “Old-Time” Scouting activities. These include: orienteering, semaphore flags and morse code, totem-pole carving, physical fitness course, shooting sports, dutch oven desert contest, and a talent show. The event will also feature a hog roast for Saturday’s evening meal. All units need to pre-register with the Scout Service Center by May 9th, due to the fact that Saturday’s evening meal is being provided. Cost for the event is $12, with a $2 discount for pre-registration. The event is being co-sponsored by Troops 24 and 106. Please contact Scoutmasters Dave Hahn (715-234-1630) or Scott Warwick (715-822-5999) for more information. View the brochure here. Summer Meetings
Roundtable and Commissioner meetings will not occur during the months of May, June or July. District Committee meetings will continue as regularly scheduled throughout the summer. All meetings will return to the normal schedule in August. Log Cabin Days
All Packs, Troops, and Crews are invited to participate in Log Cabin Days at the Rusk County Fairgrounds in Ladysmith on Saturday, June 14th. This FREE event begins at 10 AM and includes: demonstrations on cast-iron cooking, pioneer crafts, Civil War re-enactors, and a variety of other things celebrating our heritage. Contact Joe Baye (715-415-5669) for more information. Cub Scout Activities and Day Camp
There are some great opportunities for Cub Scout Packs to stay active this summer. In addition to Resident Camp at Cub World, Pack 70 in Hayward is sponsoring a Shooting Sports Extravaganza June 10-12 (this event is similar to Day Camp). The Blue Hills Day Camp will be July 21-22 at Pioneer Village in Cameron. Please look for more information on these two events in coming weeks. District Council Help
The Chippewa Valley Council and Blue Hills District is here to help your Unit succeed. The Council’s full time staff is dedicated to answering your questions accurately in a timely manner.
