2008 Philmont International Scouting Trek
The Chippewa Valley Council is soliciting youth applicants to participate in the first Philmont International Scouting Trek. Scouts between the ages of 16-19 years old as of June 18, 2008 are eligible to apply for this all expenses paid trek to Philmont.The trip will be starting on June 18th and concluding on June 29th, 2008. The method of selection will be a written essay on the topic "As a Scout, I could convince more young people from my community (and surrounding communities) to join Scouting by organizing a membership recruitment plan that included these important steps/elements."
Essays must be limited to 1,500 words in length. The BSA International Division will choose the top 10 essays from around the world and the top 10 essays from the USA. This will define the 20-member team that will be invited to Philmont.
To be considered for the 2008 Philmont International Scouting Trek applicants must submit their essay by Thursday, January 24th to the Chippewa Valley Council.
